World Postcard Day

🌍 It's World Postcard Day! a little celebration of an art form that's slowly being forgotten.

​Here's how it works: you'll create your own postcard by hand, write something real (or silly, or both) to a stranger, and send it off. In return, a stranger somewhere else in the world will do the same for you. One postcard sent = one postcard back. Send more, get more back.

​This isn't happening alone, 23+ craft clubs across the world (Mexico City, New York, India, Paris, San Francisco, and more) are running this exact event on the same weekend. So while you're sitting here in Berlin making your postcard, someone in Mumbai or Mexico City is doing the exact same thing, and your paths are about to cross in the mail.

​You'll be matched with three different crafty strangers around the world - decorate and write three postcards, and receive three back. It's a nice door into global friendship and maybe even a new pen pal.

​🔒 A note on privacy: only the craft club hosts handle the addresses and mailing — no participant ever sees or shares anyone's address directly.

​Everything you need is included: 3 postcards, art supplies, and postage.

​Why I'm doing this

​Hi, I'm Ania, the person behind Not the Creative Kind. My whole thing is that creativity doesn't need to be impressive, productive, or "good", it just needs to happen. I run workshops and write about making space for creativity without the pressure of getting it "right".

​This event is that idea in its purest form: sit down, make something with your hands, forget about being productive for an hour, and send a little bit of yourself to someone you'll never meet.
