Wake Up Theater presents (in English) „The Dumb Waiter“

Two hit men await their target in a grimy, anonymous room.  Senior partner, Ben,

reads his paper and is content just following orders.  Junior partner, Gus, keeps asking questions that Ben doesn’t want to hear. Their verbal sparring is interrupted by an unexpected intruder--a mechanical dumbwaiter-- delivering nonsensical orders for food that the men cannot fill.  By the time the signal comes announcing their victim has arrived, Ben is left to decide if this job will be business as usual.

Pinter’s absurdist works are acclaimed for their ability to present the mundane meticulously while creating a powerful allegory for the times we live in. At the end of the play the director will lead a discussion with Q&A about Pinter, his characters, and the message they are delivering to all of us.
