NEW AESTHETIC I: DIS/CONNECTED

DIS/CONNECTED untersucht, wie das Internet, insbesondere Messengerdienste und Social-Media-Apps, unser soziales Miteinander verändert haben. Das Screening hinterfragt, ob digitale Kommunikation Nähe und Austausch ermöglicht oder vielmehr Distanz und Isolation evoziert sowie verstärkt. Die versammelten Filme richten unseren Blick auf die Ambivalenz unserer permanenten Vernetzung, die Verbindungen schafft und zugleich Trennung hervorbringen kann.

DIS/CONNECTED explores how the internet has transformed our social interactions, particularly through messaging services and social media apps. The screening examines whether digital communication facilitates closeness and interaction, or whether instead it evokes and reinforces distance and isolation. The programme’s films draw our attention to the ambivalence of our constantly being connected, which creates points of contact but simultaneously gives rise to separation.

NEW AESTHETIC spürt den Veränderungen nach, die das Digitale in unserer Kultur und Gesellschaft bewirkt. Die Sektion versammelt dabei sowohl künstlerische Ansätze, die durch digitale Technologien möglich geworden sind oder sie reflektieren, als auch spekulative Ansätze und Arbeiten, die Netzphänomene und -kulturen thematisieren.

NEW AESTHETIC makes note of the changes that the digital brings to our culture and society. This section gathers artistic approaches made possible by and reflecting on digital technologies but also speculative approaches and works that address specific internet phenomena and cultures.

All films not in the English language will be screened with English subtitles.
