Im Norden des Niger bekommen die Einwohner:innen des Dorfs Tatiste den Klimawandel mit voller Wucht zu spüren. Die 14-jährige Houlaye muss sich um die Familie kümmern, als ihr Vater immer weiter entfernte Wasserquellen für das Vieh aufsuchen muss und ihre Mutter sich in der Stadt um andere Einkommensquellen bemüht. In ihrem ersten Dokumentarfilm erteilt Aïssa Maïga den Wodaabe das Wort, die in dieser Region leben. Zum unterirdischen See haben sie keinen Zugang, weil es keine Brunnen gibt. MARCHER SUR L’EAU zeigt auch, dass erschwerte Bildungschancen und bedrohte Familienstrukturen eine direkte Folge des Klimawandels und des mangelnden Zugangs zu frischem Wasser sind.
