About the Event

Lina Majdalanie und Rabih Mroué nehmen ihr Publikum mit ins Jahr 1947. Bertolt Brecht muss sich im amerikanischen Exil vor dem Komitee für unamerikanische Aktivitäten (HUAC) verantworten, das kommunistische Umtriebe bekämpfen solle. Brecht hat extra eine Erklärung verfasst, die er aber schließlich nicht verlesen darf. Mit Brecht-Liedern, historischem Material und klugem Humor stellen sie die zeitlose Frage nach der Freiheit der Kunst. Dabei hüten sich Majdalanie und Mroué, die mit Brecht seit ihrer Emigration von Beirut nach Berlin die Erfahrung des Exils teilen, vor jeder vorgefertigten Meinung. Premiere hatte das Stück beim Festival D‘Automne in Paris 2024.
