Über die Veranstaltung

Gordan make music between expressivity and abstraction. Their pieces are open processes that create a loss of sense of time. Arrangements reduced to the essentials and expressive singing combine to form a powerful musical whole. Something new emerges from minimalism, intensity and the Balkan singing tradition.

When Gordan's first album “Down In The Meadow” was released on Morphine Records in October 2021, it was celebrated by critics and listeners alike. In May 2024, the trio presented their second, in some respects even more radical album (“Gordan”, Glitterbeat Records). With this release, Gordan reinforces the mystique of legends and stories from the Balkan countries through controlled feedback, hypnotic bass, expressive drumming and the unique singing of Svetlana Spajic.
Gordan’s music is marked by radical reduction, seemingly endless ascension and a passion for experiments. The Serbian singer Svetlana Spajić is an internationally recognized expert on the history and practice of an extremely rich musical tradition. She knows and masters the hyperlocal singing styles of the Balkan Peninsula like no other contemporary singer. Guido Möbius plays bass and various electronic sound generators. He also uses a guitar amplifier, microphone and effects to provoke feedback that harmonizes with or rubs against the vocals. A dialogue between sound and noise, expanded or fragmented by Andi Stecher's expressive drumming. Stecher dispenses with any ornamentation and at the same time plays in a varied and concentrated manner. Together the trio forms a dynamic sound body.
