FOMO - (Fear of Missing Out)

The project 'FOMO' is a research lab in which KHARABA & GUESTS explore, test, and build methods and strategies for an improvised dance piece. The piece is intended to have a concrete, unmistakable essence while staying flexible enough to change with every performance: perceived impulses provoke decisions from which unexpected turns and twists arise. The dance unfolds from a response to what happens moment by moment, without a fixed sequence. The starting point for developing the work is the format 'PLAYTIME', in which participants improvise with one another based on a set of rules. The thematic framework of the research is FOMO (Fear of Missing Out).

Khadidiatou Bangoura

is a dancer and choreographer based in Cologne and the director of KHARABA & GUESTS. Following her studies in International Relations, Development Studies, and African Studies in London, she completed her dance training at Danceworks Berlin and the Tictac Art Centre in Brussels. Her work focuses on relationality and perception. She investigates our relationships to ourselves, to each other, and to our environment—aiming for new narratives and perspectives, greater self-reflection, and deeper self-awareness. Her works include "FÜHL DIE WELT DURCH MEINE HAUT – Observations on everyday racism" (2021), "LIFE IS A JUNGLE" (2024) for blind, visually impaired, and sighted audiences, and "PINKE PINKE – eine poetische Reflexion über Geld" (2025). Since 2024, she has been offering the inclusive workshop "DANCE TO THE MUSIC" and the improvisation session "PLAYTIME". She was the artistic co-director of the Sommerblut Kulturfestival in 2024 and is a member of the advisory board for the FAVORITEN Festival 2026.
