ASSEMBLY begleitet den international gefeierten Künstler Rashaad Newsome bei seinem bisher ehrgeizigsten Projekt – einer Multimedia-Ausstellung und Performance in der historischen Park Avenue Armory in New York. Die Armory, einst eine Bastion weißer Militärmacht, wird durch Videoprojektionen, Hologramme, Skulpturen, Collagen, Musik, Tanz und afrikanische Fraktalmuster in eine lebendige Feier der Schwarzen und queeren Kultur verwandelt. Diese Neuinterpretation stellt die kolonialen Machtstrukturen infrage und würdigt gleichzeitig die Komplexität und Widerstandsfähigkeit der Schwarzen Erfahrung. Durch innovatives hybrides Storytelling und atemberaubende visuelle Effekte geht ASSEMBLY über den traditionellen Dokumentarfilm hinaus.

ASSEMBLY follows internationally acclaimed artist Rashaad Newsome as he embarks on his most ambitious project yet—a multimedia exhibition and performance at New York’s historic Park Avenue Armory. Once a bastion of white military power, the Armory is transformed into a vibrant celebration of Black and queer culture through video projections, holograms, sculptures, collages, music, dance, and African fractal patterns. This reimagining challenges colonial power structures while honoring the complexity and resilience of Black experience. Through innovative hybrid storytelling and breathtaking visual effects, ASSEMBLY transcends the traditional documentary film.
