About the Event

[EN] A celebration of African ethnic music and party scene. The journey starts with Adama Dicko & Seno Blues. A group formed and based in Vienna paints a tapestry woven of melodies and rythms from West Arica, North Africa and Europe. They challenge the monolithic nature of the term „world music“ as their music extends towards different cultures and genres all the while giving proper hommage to traditional styles and instruments. The Party continues with African native DJs showcasing African music starting from the roots in Afro Funk all the way to the upbeat modern Afrobeat and dance music.

[DE] Uns erwartet ein ausschweifendes Fest traditioneller, afrikanischer Musik und der dazugehörigen Partyszene. Die in Wien ansässigen Adama Dicko & Seno Blues vermengen Melodien und Rhythmen aus Westafrika, Nordafrika und Europa und stellen die monolithische Natur des Begriffs „Weltmusik“ in Frage. Ihre Musik erstreckt sich über verschiedene Kulturen und Genres und zollt dabei zugleich traditionellen Stilen und Instrumenten gebührend Tribut. Anschließend heizen uns afrikanische DJs mit Musik von den Wurzeln des Afro Funk bis zum modernen Afrobeat und Tanzmusik ordentlich ein.
