Wettbewerb Filmstiftung NRW Schnitt Preis Spielfilm: À BRAS-LE-CORPS

In 1943, in a village in the Swiss canton of Jura, near the German border: Fifteen-year-old Emma, the daughter of a tailor, takes on a great deal of responsibility in the absence of her ostracized mother and cares for her younger sisters. She is employed in the household of the village pastor; she has an almost sisterly relationship with his daughter, Colette. The two witness in the woods how Jewish refugees are driven back across the border. Emma can talk to the heavy-hearted pastor about this. He encourages her and gives her books; a proper education seems within reach. But then a visit from a journalist turns her life upside down. For Emma, a tough struggle against hypocrisy and repression begins – and for a self-determined future.
