25 Jahre Express Brass Band

[DE] Seit einem Vierteljahrhundert ist das Münchner Kollektiv Express Brass Band nun schon mit rund 20 Musiker*innen im internationalen Musik-Kosmos unterwegs: als Straßen-, Hochzeits-und Beerdigungsband, in Konzerthallen, Clubs und auf Festivals. Die Vielzahl der Instrumentalist*innen und Stile –von Jazz, Soul, Afrobeat, New Orleans Brass und Latin bis hin zu funkigen Maghreb-Tunes –trägt dazu bei, dass der Sound der wechselnden Formationen schwer einzuordnen und dennoch unverwechselbar bleibt. Auch Gastmusiker*innen und Rapper*innen gesellen sich immer wieder dazu: Trabanten eines Planeten in ständiger Rotation. Anlässlich des Jubiläums veröffentlicht das Kollektiv eine Single mit dem Titel: „Es ist dein Geburtstag“–sich selbst zu feiern ist ja keine Schande – und lädt zur Feier langjährige Mitmusiker*innen und Freunde ein, unter dem Motto: Ihr könnt euch gönnen ohne Ende!

[EN] For a quarter of a century the Munich collective Express Brass Band has been on the road in the international music cosmos with around 20 musicians: as street, wedding and funeral band, in concert halls, clubs and at festivals. The multitude of instrumentalists and styles –from Jazz, Soul, Afrobeat, New Orleans brass and Latin to funky Maghreb tunes - makes the sound of the changing formations difficult to classify and yet distinctive. Guest musicians and rappers also join the band again and again: Trabants of a planet in constant rotation. The Express Brass Band remains true to its principle and cannot be put in a box. On occasion of its anniversary the collective is publishing a single with the title “Es ist dein Geburtstag / It’s Your Birthday” –there’s no shame in celebrating yourself –and invites other musicians and friends they have known for many years to join the celebration. The motto is: Treat yourself without limits!
